Go and Tell John ... What?

John the Baptist sent his disciples to ask Jesus whether he was the one they'd been looking for, or should they look for another.  Jesus told them to go and tell John what was happening -- the blind were receiving their sight, etc.  The implied conclusion was that if that's what you're looking for, them I'm the one.  But if you're looking for something else, I guess not.

Suppose those disciples came to Tabernacle and asked whether we are the church they've been looking for.  What would we tell them to go and tell John that we are doing?  What should we be telling them?

  1. If you are looking for a bigger building, comfortable surroundings and a non challenging atmosphere, then come on in. You can be entertained by the best and and enjoy a nice service when you choose to attend. A lot of action is encouraged but not expected so you will be able to stay in your comfort zone. Some programs for the betterment of the community but all we ask is your money to send so again, not much stress here. All in all, a nice bunch of folks who generally speak to, or about each other but lacking any great commitment for advancing the Kingdom of God. So if you are looking for a place to pratice religion without getting your hands dirty, you've found it.
A bit harsh but the way I feel sometimes.

  2. We run a preschool. We help feed the hungry once a month. We run the christmas store. We give money to various worthy causes. We go on mission trips for medical and construction. What else?
